Multi-chip LED: Four XR-E chips generate up to 560lm

The Cree MC-E LED is a multi-chip-version of the popular bestselling light-emitting diode “XR-E”. With 7x9cm the new MC-E requires as little space as the standard package of the XR family and is four times as bright. Further, the efficiency may be higher, since with the same brightness (compared to a XR-E), the current is distributed to four chips.

Thanks to the eight pins the chips can be controlled individually or in a row. This facilitates the operation on higher voltages and reduces the need and costs for component parts.
